Unevenness Is The Way Cheng Nung-Hsuan Artemin Gallery

Artemin Gallery proudly presents “Unevenness is The Way,” a solo exhibition by Taiwanese mid-career artist Cheng Nung-Hsuan.

This exhibition continues Artemin Gallery’s curatorial vision of exploring the convergence of Eastern and Western painting languages and the dynamic relationship between abstraction and figuration. With his distinctive brushwork and layered colors, Cheng constructs ever-shifting visual fields, seeking openness in painting between tradition and contemporary, order and chaos.

As an artist constantly evolving in his practice, Cheng Nung-Hsuan’s recent works not only integrate the compositional essence of Western classical painting with the fluidity of Eastern linework but also continuously push the boundaries of his pictorial vocabulary. His paintings juxtapose geometric color blocks with realistic brushstrokes, where dry-brushed lines coexist with delicate layering, transforming the canvas into a theatrical stage of visual and emotional expression.
