JOSEPH CHOI

Joseph Choi has lived in Paris for 30 years, since 1992, and has worked internationally and nationally. His paintings are layered with unclear and partial objects: dreams, reality, memory, and mythology. These elements are part of his life and represent his self. “The unconscious brushstrokes of painting are essential, and the unconscious and intended acts must be repeated appropriately. Because life is full of the unexpected.” He says. He has exhibited in Korea, Japan, Paris, and London, and his work is in the collection of the City Hall of La Cournave, France, and in many private collections.

죠셉 초이는 1992년 부터 30년 동안 파리에서 거주하며 국내외에서 활동을 하고 있는 작가로, 꿈과 현실, 기억, 그리고 신화 등 불분명하고 부분적인 대상들을 겹겹이 겹쳐내어 회화로 표현한다. 그의 이러한 요소들은 작가의 삶의 일부분이며 그의 자아를 나타낸다. 작가는 “그림의 무의식적인 붓 터치는 필수이고, 무의식적인 행위와 의도된 행위가 적절히 반복되어야 한다. 예기치 못한 부분이 삶 속에 가득하기 때문이다.” 라고 말한다. 국내 및 일본, 파리, 런던 등에서 전시를 선보였으며, 프랑스 라 쿠르너브 시청에서 작품 소장 및 개인이 다수 소장하고 있다.
