Ahn Jaehong explores the materiality of his immediate surroundings—what he calls the “vicinity station”—through bodily perception and sensory experience. Moving fluidly between intimate and distant viewpoints, he traces imprints of the body, inner desires, and dreamlike forms. These explorations continuously generate new beings, gradually unfolding into an expanded painterly world.
His works embody a pursuit of illusion—worlds constructed through layered mirages—where classical stillness and solemnity become metaphors for fragmentation, existential anxiety, and the collapse of absolutes. Despite such tensions, his paintings retain a quiet equilibrium, suggesting the potential for coexistence and balance, even within isolated or conflicting conditions.

안재홍은 자신의 신체 감각과 인식이 직접 닿는 주변 환경과 물질성에 주목하며, 이를 회화적으로 탐구해왔다. 그는 일상의 물리적 범위 안에서 밀착된 시점과 멀어진 시점을 유연하게 오가며, 신체의 흔적, 내면의 열망, 꿈의 형상을 추적한다. 이러한 탐색은 다양한 존재들을 끊임없이 생성하며, 하나의 확장된 회화적 세계로 이어진다.
그의 작업은 환영을 구축하는 과정이자, 중첩된 환영 속에서 형성된 세계다. 화면 속 고전적 고요함과 엄숙함은 분절, 불안, 절대성의 붕괴를 은유하며, 존재의 균열과 긴장을 드러낸다. 그럼에도 불구하고 작가는 이러한 긴장 속에서도 고요한 균형을 유지하며, 고립과 충돌 속에서도 공존의 가능성을 사유하게 한다.
