Gretchen Andrew

Gretchen Andrew is an artist renowned for blending traditional mediums like photography and oil painting with advanced technologies such as robotics, algorithms, and artificial intelligence. She gained attention in 2019 for her “hacks” targeting major art and political institutions. In her Facetune Portrait series, Andrew uses custom robotics to apply popular AI beautification algorithms to oil paintings. She trained with artist Billy Childish in London from 2012 to 2017 and published a book titled Search Engine Art in 2018. Her work has been exhibited in museums and galleries internationally, and she has received coverage in major publications such as Artforum, The Washington Post, and Forbes. In 2024, she was awarded the 21C Acquisition prize.
