Emmanuel Lagarrigue
1972
France
Emmanuel Lagarrigue’s work has developed around questions related to language, perception and memory. Long articulated around the use of sound, it has also flourished in sculpture, video and performance. His work examines the processes of construction of the self and their relationship to external elements such as the figure of the Other, sociocultural constructs and History. Emmanuel Lagarrigue is also interested in the passing on such processes and their limits. The exploration of language is also a key feature in his work, whether written or spoken. In his hypertextual universes, processes of transformation, translation and transcoding recall the diffracted construction of identity as experienced in contemporary times.
