Chanoo Park

Chanoo Park works on three different series: Stone, Engram, and Frame.

Stone : Park used to mainly work with magazines or commercial photography until coming upon a stone by the rural riverside in Bongwha, Korea. He felt a much greter resonance from the stone compared to man-made furniture, objects, architecture, and designs. The artist tries to capture the image ofthe object as it is by minimizing all photographic techniques and composition while taking pictures of stones. He believes that water has designed stones for a long time, and that stones can express their colors only when they meet water. Therefore, Park explains this series is like an ID photograph of the stone and water.

박찬우 작가의 대표적인 시리즈는 Stone, Engram, Frame 으로 나뉜다.

Stone : 작가는 봉화의 어느 강가에서 처음 돌을 만나고 사람이 만든 가구, 오브제, 건축 등의 디자인을 마주했던 것보다 자연이 만든 수십, 수백 년의 깊이감에 큰 울림을 느꼈다. 그래서 작가는 돌을 촬영하며 모든 사진적 테크닉, 구도 등을 최소화하여 있는 그대로의 모습을 담아내려 한다. 작가는 물이 오랜 세월 돌을 디자인했고, 돌은 물을 만나야 제 색깔을 발현할 수 있다고 본다. 때문에 작품을 돌과 물의 증명사진이라 말한다.
