ByungHo Lee is a sculptor who constantly questions classical concepts and modes of representation in sculpture, maintaining a contemporary sensibility while presenting experimental sculptural methodologies to achieve ‘sculptures with temporality that continuously change over time’ using the style of human body sculptures. His approach to presenting ‘temporality in sculpture’ and ‘sculptures in a continuously fluid and transforming state’ is embodied in three major series: the <Breathing Sculptures> series (2006~), which utilizes silicone and air compressors, the <Anthropometry> series that began in 2016, followed by the <Eccentric Abattis> series. In his recent solo exhibition «Indistinct Vision», ByungHo Lee showcased an attempt to expand his project developed for years, which stemmed from the concept of a ‘living sculpture in time,’ in a new direction. He presented the next stage of visual experience through painterly experiments on data-based digital sculptures.

ByungHo Lee (b. 1976) received both his B.F.A and M.F.A in sculpture from Hongik University, Seoul. He has held solo exhibitions including Indistinct Vision (2025, SPACE SO, Seoul), PIECE (2023, Perigee Gallery, Seoul), Three Shades (2020, SPACE SO, Seoul) and Le Vide (2016, KICHE, Seoul). Lee participated in group exhibitions including ThinkSpace (2025, Wumin Art Center, Cheongju, Korea), Monumental (2023, Museumhead, Seoul, Korea), Repetition and Difference: About Time (2019, Busan Museum of Art, Busan, Korea), Aging World- Will you still love me tomorrow? (2019, Seoul Museum of Art, Korea), and Medicine and Art: Imagining a Future for Life and Love (2009, Mori Art Museum, Tokyo, Japan). Lee has received awards such as ‘the 29th JoongAng Fine Arts Prize’(2007) and has participated in art residencies at Gyeonggi Creation Center (2013) and SeMA Nanji Residency (2011). His works are housed in collections of esteemed institutions including the Seoul Museum Art, Busan Museum of Art, Suwon Museum of Art and Wumin Art Center.

이병호는 인체조각이라는 고전 양식을 대상으로  ‘시간성을 갖고 지속적으로 변화하는 조각’ 을 구현하기 위해 끊임없이 질문하는 작업을 이어간다. 작가는 동시대적 감각을 견지하며, 동시에 실험적인 조각적 방법론을 제시한다. 조각에서의 ‘시간성’과 ‘지속적으로 유동하고 변형하는 상태의 조각’을 제시하는 그의 작업적 태도는 실리콘과 에어 컴프레서를 이용한 ‹숨쉬는 조각›(2006~)과 2016년부터 이어온 ‹Anthropometry 인체측정›, 그리고 인체측정 시리즈로부터 기원한 ‹Eccentric Abattis  익센트릭 아바티› 등 크게 세 개의 시리즈를 이루고 있다. 최근에는 개인전 «환상의 빛»을 통해 ‘시간 속에 생동하는 조각’에 관한 상상으로 수년간 이어 온 프로젝트를 또 다른 방향으로 확장하는 시도를 선보였다. 작가는 데이터로 존재하는 디지털 조각 위에서의 회화적 실험을 통해 새로운 단계의 시각적 경험을 제시한다.

이병호(b.1976)는 홍익대학교 미술대학 조소과와 동대학원을 졸업하였다. 주요 개인전으로는 «환상의 빛»(2025, 스페이스 소, 서울), «PIECE»(2023, 페리지갤러리, 서울), «Three Shades»(2020, 스페이스 소, 서울) 및 «Le Vide 空의 영역»(2016, 갤러리 기체, 서울) 등이 있으며 단체전으로는 «생각공간:ThinkSpace»(2025, 우민아트센터, 청주), «모뉴멘탈 Monumental»(2023, 뮤지엄헤드 서울), «반복과 차이: 시간에 관하여»(2019, 부산시립미술관, 부산), «에이징 월드 – Will you still love me tomorrow?»(2019, 서울시립미술관, 서울)와 «Medicine And Art: Imaging a Future for Life and Love»(22009, 모리미술관, 도쿄) 등에 참여했다. 제 29회 중앙미술대전 올해의 작가에 선정되었고, 경기창작센터(2013)와 서울시립미술관 난지미술창작 스튜디오(2011) 입주작가로 활동하였다. 서울시립미술관, 부산시립미술관, 수원시립미술관, 우민아트센터 등에 작품이 소장되어 있다.
