Amber Toplisek

 Amber Toplisek takes images randomly in person or from online and places them on physical bodies such as glass, copper, solder, resin, and iron. She connects fragmented images and devises structures that allow a single image to extend outward, groping between the still and the moving, the visible and the invisible. The atypically shaped objects are represented as unevenly shaped entities that escape their screen origins. Still, the artist uses them to materialize invisible realms such as the unconscious and memory.

엠버 토플리세크는 직접 촬영하거나 온라인에서 무작위로 수집한 이미지를 유리, 구리, 납, 레진, 철과 같은 물리적 본체 위에 안착시킨다. 그는 조각난 이미지를 연결하고 하나의 이미지가 바깥으로 확장될 수 있는 구조물을 고안하며 정지된 것과 움직이는 것, 보이는 것과 보이지 않는 것 사이를 더듬어간다. 비정형적 형태를 덧입은 이미지는 스크린이라는 출처를 벗어나 조각나고 부서진 형태들로 재현되지만, 작가는 이를 이용해 무의식과 기억과 같은 비가시적 영역을 물질적으로 표현하고자 한다.
