Yoon Hyejin
Yoon Hyejin (b. 1994) focuses on the way a scene from one’s memory is replayed and the sense of its blurriness. Rather than attempting to grasp a clear form, or to simplify and reduce images to their essence, Yoon’s work is a gesture of reconstructing the past moments and the fragments of scene through sensory traces. This becomes both an act of resistance against disappearance and finitude, and a painterly response to the question of how we remember. The blurriness and ambiguity that can be found in Yoon’s paintings, along with the colors and atmospheres that surround them, become a process that a trace of past seeps into the present. Yoon’s work is placed in the intersection of “seeing” and “recognizing”. Weaving between clarity and obscurity, between forgetting and remembering, she questions whether painting can serve as a futile yet persistent memory device.
Yoon studied Painting and French Language and Literature at Hongik University and received her M.F.A. in painting from the Korea National University of Arts. She has held solo exhibitions at Pokettales, Seoul (2024); Gallery IN, Seoul (2023); and Light Little Walk, Seoul (2023). Her group exhibitions include The Infused Moment, Hidden M Gallery, Seoul (2025); A Geodesic Line, FIM, Seoul (2024); PEEPHOLE, ARC1, Seoul (2024); Sound Wave, Outhouse, Seoul (2023); Waiting Room, Suchi, Seoul (2022); and Fine Cloud Point, Dolchanggo Daejeong, Namhae (2018).
윤혜진 (b. 1994)의 회화는 기억 속 장면이 재생되는 방식, 그리고 그 재생이 흐릿하게 이루어진다는 감각에 주목한다. 명확하게 형상을 붙잡으려는 시도나, 이미지를 단순화하고 환원하여 핵심만을 남겨놓기보다는 이미 지나가버린 시간과 장면의 파편들을 감각적 단서로 복원하려는 태도에 가깝다. 이는 소멸과 유한성에 저항하려는 하나의 몸짓이자 어떻게 기억할 것인가에 대한 그의 회화적 응답이다. 윤혜진의 회화에 담긴 흐릿함과 모호함 그리고 그 속에 떠오르는 색과 이를 둘러싼 공기의 분위기는 과거의 흔적이 현재로 스며드는 과정이다. 그의 작업은 ‘보기’와 ‘식별하기’가 교차하는 지점에 놓여있다. 명료함과 모호함, 망각과 기억 사이를 오가며 작가는 회화가 덧없고도 끈질긴 기억의 장치가 될 수 있는지를 묻는다.
윤혜진은 홍익대학교에서 회화와 불어불문을 전공하였으며, 한국예술종합학교에서 평면조형 전문사를 졸업하였다. 포켓테일즈, 서울(2024); 갤러리 인, 서울(2023); Light Little Walk, 서울(2023)에서 개인전을 가졌으며, «스며든 시간», 히든엠갤러리, 서울(2025); «측지선», FIM, 서울(2024); «PEEPHOLE», ARC1, 서울(2024); «음-파», 별관, 서울(2023); «Waiting room», 수치, 서울(2022); «잔구름 지점», 돌창고 대정, 남해(2018) 등의 그룹전에 참여했다.
