JARILAGER Gallery
Overview
Jari Lager founded his gallery in 2012, and JARILAGER Gallery has since developed into an internationally active contemporary art gallery, expanding its presence with the opening of its Seoul space in Gangnam in 2023. The gallery reflects Lager’s three decades of engagement with the global art world. He began his career at Lisson Gallery before founding the artist-run space VTO in London’s East End in 1998, followed by UNION Gallery in 2003. His later partnership with Choi&Lager in Cologne and Seoul paved the way for the gallery’s deeper presence in Seoul, which dissolved at the end of 2021. Since reorganising as JARILAGER Gallery in 2022, the gallery has presented 28 exhibitions across its Cologne and Seoul venues and participated in 20 art fairs in Cologne, Copenhagen, Seoul, Busan, Daegu, and Miami.
야리라거 갤러리는 2012년 오픈한 이래 국제 무대를 중심으로 활동해온 현대미술 갤러리입니다. 2023년 서울 강남에 새로운 공간을 개관하며 한국에서의 기반을 더욱 확장하였으며, 갤러리스트 야리 라거가 지난 30여 년간 국제 미술계에서 쌓아온 경험과 네트워크를 바탕으로 운영되고 있습니다. 야리 라거는 영국의 리슨 갤러리에서 커리어를 시작하여 1998년 런던 이스트엔드에 작가 중심의 대안 공간인 VTO를 설립하고, 2003년에는 유니언 갤러리를 설립하며 동시대 미술 현장에서의 입지를 구축해왔습니다. 이후 쾰른과 서울에서 초이앤라거(Choi&Lager)와의 협업을 통해 활동의 지평을 확장했으며, 해당 파트너십은 2021년을 기점으로 마무리되었습니다. 2022년 야리라거 갤러리로 재정비된 이후 쾰른과 서울을 중심으로 총28회의 전시를 선보였고 쾰른, 코펜하겐, 서울, 부산, 대구, 마이애미 등 다양한 도시에서 열린 아트페어에 참여하며 국제 미술 현장과의 접점을 지속적으로 넓혀가고 있습니다.
