Gana Art
Overview
Established in Seoul in 1983, Gana Art is one of the first major contemporary art galleries in Korea. It has played an integral role in the rapidly growing art market in Korea over the last 40 years and remains as one of Korea’s most prestigious and influential art institutions today. It has always had a two-fold mission of introducing international artists to the audience in Korea and of providing a strong platform for Korean artists to be introduced abroad. Developing alongside the global art market, Gana Art continues to advance the practice and careers of emerging and established artists through multiple exhibition spaces in Korea.In 2023, as part of this international vision that cultivates global connection since its establishment, Gana Art has opened a viewing room in Los Angeles building on past outposts in New York and Paris. The space specializes in an experimental program with a critical edge that helps to forge further ties between South Korea and the artists, institutions, and collectors of the LA art scene. As one of the major and influential art galleries in Korea, Gana Art will continue to keep pace with the dynamic changes in the global art world by presenting works by both emerging and established artists and through its participation in major international art fairs.
1983년에 설립된 가나아트는 40여년 동안 국내외에서 다양한 기획전시를 진행했을 뿐 아니라, 국제적인 행사에도 꾸준히 참여하며 미술문화의 발전과 한국미술의 국제화를 위해 노력해 왔습니다. 2018년에는 가나아트 한남을 오픈하며, 한국의 대표적인 현대미술갤러리로서 국내 미술가들의 실험적인 작품을 소개하고 세계적인 미술가들의 작품을 전시하는 등 한국미술문화 발전에 지속적으로 기여하고 있습니다. 앞으로도 가나아트는 한국미술시장의 영향력 있는 주요 갤러리로서 국내 작가 발굴과 육성에 주력하고, 국제적인 행사 참여를 비롯해 세계적인 미술가들의 전시를 기획함으로써 명성을 이어가고자 합니다.
