Overview
CHAPTER II is a non-profit art space established in 2016 by U.PINE MED Inc. as a collaborative project with Gallery Baton to support young and emerging artists.
The name, CHAPTER II refers to a meaning of a space where a new chapter (Chapter II) of artistic activity begins for young artists who complete the academic courses andtake their first step into the art world as full time artists. Also, the Roman alphabet, “II” embodies an open door, which is a vision of CHAPTER II that hopes to be a welcomingspace not only for artists but also for anyone who sincerely wants to appreciate art.
CHAPTER II aims to serve as a platform for improving the creative ability of promisingartists at home and abroad by holding various exhibitions reflecting the experimental attempts of young artists.
CHAPTER II also runs a residency program that selects three artists every year and provides a studio to support their creative development. And for local residents and young artists CHAPTER II runs the Spring Flare, a ‘daily art bookstore’ that introduces books containing ‘art of life’ that turns daily life into art. CHAPTER II will be established as representative cultural spaces in the community and will further strive to become a venue for exchanges to expand the boundary of contemporary art.

CHAPTERⅡ(챕터투)는 ㈜U.PINE MED(유파인메드)가 국내외 역량있는 미술가들을 지원하기 위해 갤러리바톤과의 공동 프로젝트로 2016년에 설립한 공간입니다.
CHAPTERⅡ는 학과과정을 마치고 전업작가로 사회에 첫 발을 내딛는 젊은 미술가들에게 예술활동의 제 2장(ChapterⅡ)이 시작되는 공간을 의미합니다. CHAPTERⅡ 로고의 로마자 “Ⅱ”는 열린 문을 형상화하는데 이는 미술가들 뿐 아니라 예술을 향유하고자 하는 모든 이들에게 열린 공간이기를 희망하는 CHAPTERⅡ의 비전을 담고 있습니다.
CHAPTERⅡ는 젊은 작가들의 참신한 시도와 신선한 시각이 반영된 다양한 전시를 열어, 국내외 유망한 작가들의 창작 능력 배양을 위한 플랫폼으로서의 역할을 하고자 합니다.
작가들이 안정적으로 작업할 수 있도록 매년 3명의 작가를 선정하여 창작활동 공간을 제공하는 레지던시 프로그램을 함께 운영하고 있습니다. 또한 지역주민과 젊은 예술가들을 위해 ‘일상예술서점 스프링 플레어(Spring Flare)’를 함께 운영하며 ‘일상을 예술(art)로 만드는 삶의 기술(art)’을 담은 책을 소개하고 있습니다.
CHAPTER Ⅱ는 지역사회의 대표적인 문화공간이자 나아가 동시대 미술의 외연을 확장하는 교류의 장이 될 수 있도록 계속해서 노력할 것입니다.
