덩 쓰칭 Deng Shiquing
Shiqing Deng launched her artistic career after earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA) in Beijing and a Master of Fine Arts from the New York Academy of Art. Through the medium of painting, she explores the intricate relationship between “virtually manipulated reality and the tangible, material world.” She weaves personal experiences and inquiries into contemporary events into strange, mysterious narratives. Her work visualizes the ways in which modern individuals consume images—specifically how digital platforms format human desire and attention into standardized data—while questioning the very nature of “authenticity” in today’s image-saturated environment.
Her distinguished career is marked by several prestigious accolades, including winning The Bennett Prize in 2023, the “Signature Art Prize” Annual Artist Prize in 2020, and “Best of Show” at the International Biennial Portrait Competition in 2019. She was also selected for the Chubb Fellowship in 2018 and participated in the Terra Foundation Residency in Giverny, France, in 2017.
Deng has held numerous solo exhibitions in major art hubs, including New York, Los Angeles, Milan, and Switzerland. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions at world-renowned institutions and venues such as the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Sotheby’s, the National Museum of China, and the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center. Furthermore, she continues to be an active presence in the international art market, participating in premier global art fairs including Art Basel Miami Beach and Art Miami, maintaining a strong professional footprint across both the United States and China.
