Overview
Established in 2015, ThisWeekendRoom has distinguished itself as a pivotal barometer of new directions in the Korean contemporary art scene. The gallery’s curatorial program highlights emerging and mid-career artists across painting, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, and installation, emphasizing experimental reinterpretations as well as traditional mediums. The gallery has diligently sought to chart diverse and innovative pathways, empowering artists to cultivate their unique artistic realms amidst the evolutions of the art market. In particular, it strives to engage with the dynamic currents of the Asian art scene while fostering profound dialogues on creative practices and curatorial methodologies. These efforts are realized through a range of vibrant and ambitious projects. A strategic relocation from Cheongdam-dong to Hannam-dong in 2021 has afforded the gallery an expanded exhibition space, facilitating more ambitious showcases and an enriched artist roster, including diverse international talent.
This April, ThisWeekendRoom will showcase works by Adam Boyd (United Kingdom), Amber Toplisek (USA), Chaewon Lee (South Korea), Philip Loersch (Germany), and Seongjoon Hong (South Korea) at ART OnO 2025.
2015년에 설립된 디스위켄드룸은 한국 동시대 미술계에서 새로운 방향성을 제시하는 중요한 지표로 자리 잡았습니다. 갤러리의 기획 프로그램은 회화, 조각, 도예, 섬유, 설치 등 다양한 매체를 아우르는 신진 및 중견 작가를 조명하고, 그들의 전통적인 매체의 재해석과 실험적인 도전을 응원합니다. 갤러리는 작가들이 격변하는 미술 시장의 흐름 속에서 독자적인 영역을 구축할 수 있는 혁신적인 전략을 탐색해 왔습니다. 특히 활발한 아시아 미술계의 흐름에 동참함과 동시에 창작 활동과 큐레토리얼 방법론에 대한 심도있는 대화를 이끌어내고자 노력하며, 여러 역동적인 프로젝트를 통해 이를 실현하고 있습니다. 2021년 청담동에서 한남동으로의 이전 이후 더 풍성한 전시와 폭넓은 작가 발굴에 매진하고 있으며, 독일, 영국, 일본, 중국 등 다양한 지역을 거점으로 하는 국제적 협력 체계를 강화해 나가고 있습니다.
오는 4월, 디스위켄드룸은 ART OnO 2025에서 아담 보이드 (영국), 엠버
토플리세크 (미국), 이채원 (한국), 필립 로에쉬 (독일), 그리고 홍성준(한국) 작가의 작품을 선보일 예정입니다.
